Miracle Juice for Flu Recovery and Prevention

Two months before pandemic flu suspended activities across Mexico City, I had a severe respiratory flu, one which I battled for an unusually long before I was able to shake it off.  Now I have to wonder if this bold flu I had from late February to mid March was the same swine flu currently at the center of international fear and speculation?

This flu hit me hard, and left me exhausted with high fevers, cough and deep respiratory infection, muscle aches, and a general lack of appetite.  The symptoms endured through this miserable span of time, where I survived 12 hour days of work and transport by coupling them with nearly 12 hours of sleep.  I survived this time on water, tea and anti-gripal juices from the market, with bites of mandarin, mango, banana, guavas, papaya and apples, which kept me on my feet through long work days. I recovered during a short trip out of the city into clean air in early March, to a municipality in Veracruz, for a work field trip.

Toward the end of my flu, N., a co-farmer of mine , suggested making up a batch of anti-flu elixir, which she called “Miracle juice”,  a potent drink blended finely from a small beet, half a purple onion, a few cloves of garlic, the juice from about 8 limes, Chinese parsley, and a spoonful of honey.

The miracle juice works a strong protection against the threat of influenza attack, and although the mix may sound a little rough on the palate, the parsley, lime and honey do a decent job of covering up the bite of garlic and red onion.

What recipes and trusted remedies do you use in flu recovery, and flu prevention?

Your Miracle Juice is excellent. I’m currently suffering from probably swine flu, have had it 2.5 weeks and it went from bad to worse to better to terrible to bad to worse and was heading back to being terrible which was pretty scary 2.5 weeks in…

Tonight a pulled myself out of bed and set about the juicer with all the ingredients except parsley which I was lacking and also had to substitute lemon for lime. The first batch was 200ml and I’ve had two 50ml doses thus far.

Wow! almost instantly my sinus cleared. The the mucus came up from my chest. My sore throat went away. My headache stopped. My joints felt better. I got a little sweaty but in a good way :) I wouldn’t have believed that this was possible!

It doesn’t even taste that bad, just kind of sweet and aromatic.

Thanks very much for sharing this with the world, I intend to pass on the recipe to everyone I know, It really is “miracle juice” :)
