Obama Adds Money to Pay Black Farmers for Bias: NYTimes

In yesterdays NYTimes, a blurb in the Business section announced:

The White House has added $1.15 billion to a fund meant to settle claims made under a discrimination lawsuit filed by black farmers against the Department of Agriculture. The money, along with $100 million allocated in last year’s farm bill, is meant to compensate farmers filing claims after settlement in 1999 of a suit accusing the government of denying agricultural loans to black farmers. Restitution was delayed for years as officials decided how claims should be heard and payments distributed.
